24 Day Challenge Update

So I just wanted to give a little update on my 24 day challenge/fast.  I have reached the Max Phase of my Advocare 24 day challenge (Almost half way).  So its been 10 days of my media fast as well.  The challenge is going very well.  So far I have lost 5lbs and 4 inches overall (waist, hips, and thighs)!!!  I am feeling more energetic and just better about my body!  I have gone 10 days without soda, junk food, and candy (may not seem like a long time but for me it is).  It has been really hard to choose healthy foods and say no to my Dr. Pepper and chips but definitely has been worth it.  I have been feeling great!  My media fast is going great as well.  It also has been a challenge to not get on social media (harder than I expected) but it has also been so rewarding.  Spending more time focussed on prayer, studying Gods word, my family, health, and just living!  The Lord is good and blessing my time away from the social network.  Still studying in 1 Corinthians and loving it.  Learning how to discipline our bodies, mind, and spirit- doing everything for the sake of the gospel.  Having genuine faith, loving others, and laying down my sinful desires.  The Lord is so good and faithful!  And I can't wait to share my final results and see where God takes me!

And I just had to share this picture of my precious girl

"I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that i may become a fellow partaker of it. Don't you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self- control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away. Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified."  1 Corinthians 9:23-27

Kinsley: 7 months

Our sweet baby girl is 7 months old.  She is such a happy and chatty little girl (just like her big sister).  We tried the pool again this month and she LOVED it.  I think the first time it was just a little too cold for her cause she was all about it this month.  She is sitting up really well and almost crawling!  Right now she likes to get around by rolling all over the place.  This month she has really found her voice- she loves to talk.  She is even stringing some sounds together (DADADADA).  We have been to the Perot museum, swimming a ton, and the park this month.  She loves her big sis, bath time, music, the pool, sitting up and eating solid food.

Current Likes:  Music, her swing, her big sister, being on the floor, sitting up in her bumbo, being outside, walker, play mat and baths.

Current Dislikes:  Bouncer, car seat, and laying on the ground

Milestones:  Sitting up by herself

Stats:  16 pounds 10 ounces (45%) and 26.25 inches long (35%)!  Size 3 diapers.  8oz bottles every 4-5 hours.  Solids once a day- loves peas, carrots, squash, green beans, sweet potato and cereal (hates prunes).

Firsts:  Perot Museum, Prunes

24 Day Challenge

Today I  started my 2nd day of the Advocare 24 day challenge.  I am so excited to start this challenge.  I am really looking forward to getting more energy, eating healthier, cutting out junk food, and maybe loose some weight & a few inches.  A couple of months before we went to Mexico, Jonny and I started to eat healthier, eat smaller portions, work out and eat more at home.  Jonny has been doing great- he has lost over 20lbs and is doing so good.  But I still struggled with eating candy, junk food and drinking sodas.  I am really determined with this challenge to cut out all that and commit to eating great.  So far I am doing well haha :)  Along with this 24 day challenge I have decided to fast from a few things (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Netflix).  I have been really convicted lately about how I spend my time.  Not only do I want to have a healthier body, I want to be continually growing in the Lord and these things have been a major distraction for me lately.  I want to be present is my family lives and not miss the little things.  I love how social media is able to keep us all connected and updated on people lives (especially family who live so far)- so I wont take a break forever but I definitely need a break to refocus on what I spend my time doing.  Because I can get on Pinterest, facebook or netflix before bed and before I know it 2 or 3 hours go by.  And its quite silly how many times a day I check or update twitter, facebook, and instagram.  I will continue to blog here and there- keep you updated on my challenge and mommy life but for the most part I will be unplugging from the internet for awhile.   Been studying in 1 Corinthians and the verses I read this morning really verify my conviction about how I am spending time and living my life.

Mexico

We had the very best time in Playa Del Carmen.  We loved the resort, soaking up the sun, naps, sleeping in, massages, swimming with the Dolphins, and just having a kid free week (although we were so ready to see them when we got back)!  We are so thankful for the week off and everyone who help us have a great vacation.  If you want to see pictures and read about our travels then just keep scrolling below or you can look to the right through the blog archive.

Mexico: Day Six

Day Six (Friday):  We got up, went to town to do some shopping, ate lunch, and then hit the pool.  We stayed at the pool till dinner time.  We wanted to soak up all the sun we could before we headed home. That night we ordered room service, sat on the balcony, and enjoyed our last night together.  It was great!
